Background

The US HIV and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) markets are a highly complex fusion of medical, socio-economic and demographic dimensions. These forces intersect across physician, payer, pharmacy, patient, community and policy stakeholder groups in ways unique to HIV. In the USA diagnosis of HIV is hampered by issues of stigma and lack of access to care. Access to care is poor in socio-economically disadvantaged populations (where the disease is most prevalent). Effective treatment of HIV has improved markedly in recent years and in many patients can result in the virus being suppressed to undetectable levels. Recent evidence has shown that viral suppression prevents sexual transmission of the virus.

Despite this, in the US there are approximately 40,000 new HIV infections each year and over 1 million people are estimated to be at risk of being exposed to HIV infection. However, only around 20% are currently received daily oral PrEP medication. A long-acting regimen offers the opportunity for broader use of PrEP due to potential efficacy, dosing and patient preference advantages

The role of Director, Cabotegravir PrEP US HCP Marketing will be to develop, resource and execute strategies and tactics in order to successfully commercialize cabotegravir for PrEP in the US. The role will work closely with Global Commercial Strategy to build key messages and related content, develop marketing plans and metrics for success. There is significant cross functional working expectation of the role with critical partners being Global Commercial Strategy, DTC Marketing, other portfolio brand marketing teams, Market Access, Sales, Commercial Ops, and Medical Affairs.

• Lead the US application of the Global Launch Plan to deliver bold launch vision, ambition, positioning and executional direction which will yield a sustainable value proposition
• Lead a cross-functional group of extraordinarily talented and diverse individual contributors, seeking needed innovation competencies unique for PrEP in order to be more competitive than other companies in the HIV field
• Represent ViiV and brand to external stakeholders, including external experts
• Collaborate with Global Commercial Strategy to develop US HCP insights required to understand their needs, map the current and future customer journey, and segment potential prescribers and allied HCPs to deliver an exceptional and connected customer experience to ensure competitiveness in current and potential PrEP market
• Manage multiple agencies (HCP creative and media) to ensure performance, financial accuracy and compliance with promotional policies
• Develop launch tactics in line with global commercial strategies to ensure brand performance
• Work collaboratively cross-functionally with internal ViiV partners in other HCP brand teams, finance, multichannel marketing, medical affairs as well as GSK partners engaged in similar marketing functions
• Contribute to a culture of “One Team”, driving organizational continuity and alignment across US and Global in a rapid-paced and agile way
