Information on the Department: UNIVERSITY MARKETING is comprised of fourteen professional staff with expertise in marketing strategy, advertising and promotion, print and digital design, content and copywriting, multimedia production, user experience, and digital marketing. Together, the marketing team is responsible for: - Ensuring the university presents a consistent and compelling narrative via a clear brand strategy and ongoing stewardship.
- Generating leads of sufficient quantity and quality to achieve enrollment targets for all academic programs.
- Leveraging marketing channels to help convert prospective students through all stages of the admission funnels, ultimately leading to new enrollments.
- Delivering an optimal return on investment for all marketing activities undertaken by the university.
Job Description: Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President for Marketing is responsible for being the thought leader for and ensuring the excellence of all internal and external marketing efforts. S/he is responsible for developing and managing an institution-wide marketing program for the university in order to increase demand for enrollment, enhance visibility and brand, and support the university's philanthropic efforts; and for the planning, implementation and analysis of the university's overall marketing plan. Key elements include brand identity, internal client relations, external agency relationships, performance metrics and competitive analysis. The Assistant Vice President is responsible for developing marketing plans for individual offices, programs, and the university as a whole. The Assistant Vice President will define and uphold the University's primary marketing messages, brand standards, and visual identity guidelines; manage a team of professional staff to execute marketing plans; and collaborate with the University's market Research and Intelligence Department on market research as needed. This person will be a key strategic partner for the administration, faculty, and staff. This position demands both executive-level strategic functioning and roll-up-your- sleeves productivity. The Assistant Vice President for Marketing is a creative strategist, an experienced professional with imagination, strong business sense, marketing savvy, and an easy rapport. S/he must be knowledgeable, skilled, and experienced in employing effective marketing techniques. Specifically, this position requires well developed skills in the following broad areas: MARKETING AND BRANDING - Thorough understanding of strategic and tactical marketing/branding, market segmentation, integrated communication, digital marketing, advertising, and public relations principles and an ability to apply them to convey the essence of a specific organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of messaging internally as well as translate the uniqueness of a specific organization to multiple external audiences, with the goal of increasing institutional visibility, brand equity, demand for enrollment, and philanthropic support.
- Experience developing and executing marketing plans with clear objectives that are measurable.
- An understanding of technology and how to use it to increase the efficiency of the communications infrastructure.
- Familiarity with existing and emerging social media platforms and with approaches to integrating multimedia and the web.
- Extensive experience working with marketing and media planning/buying agencies.
ANALYTICAL - Analytical skills and the ability to understand and utilize complex data.

Requirements: - Advanced degree in marketing, communication, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years senior-level marketing experience, including at least 3 years in higher education and 3-5 years with budget oversight.
- Thorough understanding of strategic and tactical marketing/branding, market segmentation, integrated communication, digital marketing, advertising, and public relations principles and an ability to apply them to convey the essence of a specific organization.
