| A newly created position in the office of Medicine & Biological Sciences Development (MBSD) reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Senior Director of Marketing & Donor Relations enables MBSD's fundraising success by conceptualizing, implementing, project-managing, and supervising marketing and donor relations efforts that inspire and motivate philanthropy. S/he collaborates with the AVP to recommend and implement appropriate strategies. The Senior Director of Marketing & Donor Relations is responsible for:- Advising and developing the strategic direction on all aspects of marketing and donor relations for the unit including creative, multi-media plans, digital outreach, direct response, data capture, data measurement, donor engagement and recognition and stewardship planning.- The planning and oversight of the marketing and donor relations strategies.- Developing and implementing strategies to expand the prospect base across the unit by bringing a proven and demonstrated level of expertise in marketing tactics which drive acquisition, cultivation and solicitation efforts. This includes the implementation and utilization of best practices, quantitative tools and the measurement of results.- Serving as the primary resource for marketing initiative measurement and research needs including: reporting and actionable insights, testing and optimization, modeling, marketing research as it relates to MBSD's overall efforts in market effectiveness and reach.- Recommending creative ways to present data and lead not only the team, but MBSD in uncovering areas for new promotion opportunities, all in the effort to acquire targeted donor bases, steward existing donors, and maximize retention rates in overall donor engagement.- Serving and acting as a change agent and a thought leader in all elements of multi-media strategies including but not limited to digital and direct response trends and techniques.- Ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of measurement deliverables in the area of annual giving through leading-edge approaches to direct response programming.The Senior Director assigns and oversees projects (marketing writing, design, web, and digital) to his/her team. S/he manages staff, implements project management tools and techniques, coordinates efforts across the Marketing and Donor Relations team, and evaluates work product and productivity, to meet deadlines and expectations for quality, style, and content. Working closely with fundraising teams, s/he oversees the creation, design, and execution of comprehensive donor relations and stewardship programs that marries marketing strategies and tactics to underscore the University of Chicago's appreciation for the value of philanthropic support, support solicitation efforts and drive donor retention. S/he partners with the Senior Associate Director of Donor Relations in driving a variety of leading-edge donor relations programs and recognition activities. S/he is instrumental in strategizing the development of personalized, creative Major and Principal gift donor stewardship opportunities, as well as donor engagement efforts that can be broadly applied to various levels of donors. The Senior Director oversees the Annual Giving program and the work of the Assistant Director of Annual Giving to raise unrestricted and renewable restricted contributions to the University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences. Working to support the essential need for strong collaboration and partnership across campus, s/he will also work in coordination with the University's Alumni Relations & Development marketing and communications colleagues, as well as colleagues within the University of Chicago Medicine. |
